Quiz - Allow users to edit their answers before final submit
We've set up a quiz in Storyline, once that allows users to review AND EDIT/CHANGE their answers before a final submission, without using the Feedback option , as we do not want to give any feedback on correct or incorrect, for each quiz question. Is there a way to make this happen, without needing to complete Feedback Layers?
When previewing, without feedback, in Storyline and even after a publish the user is able to go back to the questions, but is unable to change their answer.

Hi, Shannon,
Yes, what you ask is possible. There are two ways Storyline "locks in" a quiz answer:
- On the quiz slide itself. When the user clicks the "Submit" button, this fires the "Submit Interaction" trigger. As the presentation advances to the next slide, the answer is locked in.
- Any time a results slide loads, it automatically locks in ALL quiz questions that it's grading-- even if some of them were not yet completed (so skipped questions are simply graded as being wrong).
It sounds like you want option 2; all quiz questions get submitted at the same time.
All you have to do is disable that "Submit Interaction" trigger. The quickest way to do this is to turn off the Submit button and replace it with the Next button:
With your quiz slides selected in Story View, you'll see "Slide Navigation Controls" on the right. Uncheck "Submit". Check "Next" (and probably "Prev" as well, if you want learners to be able to navigate freely).
If you want, you can also customize the triggers on the slide right before your results slide so it pops up with a warning to the learner that they're about to submit all questions for grading.

That's it, after I read your message it triggered my light blub in my head and I also remembered doing this in the past. Thanks so much!
Glad that Greg was able to assist you here Shannon. I wanted to pop in and welcome you to E-Learning Heroes

I have tried this but although it allows changes to pre built template questions I have created some using the pick one and states / variables - I am finding that it will mark correct, mark incorrect allow me to change from wrong to right but if I had the right answer first pass and make a change to the wrong answer the score does not reflect this. anyone help.
Hi Marion! This thread is a bit dated. Do you have a sample .story file that you would like us to take a look at? You can further explain what you would like as well.

Can you please tell me if removing the submit interaction will still allow you to redo essay answers?
I would like users to be able to redo essay questions before they are completely submitted
Hi Kandice!
By default, question slides in Articulate Storyline have a Submit button, meaning each question will be submitted one at a time for evaluation and feedback will be displayed immediately. If you want all the questions to be submitted at the same time at the end of the quiz, change the navigation controls from Submit buttons to Prev/Next buttons. This will allow answers to be updated before submission if needed as well. Here's how.- RonLutkaCommunity Member
Greg/Leslie, this worked well except for two things:
1) When users return to an earlier essay slide to revise the content it takes a long time for the cursor to become ready. We will lose learners as they will not know they have to wait or would not want to wait for the cursor to become activated each time the user wishes to insert the cursor within the text. Is this an Articulate Online free demo problem only? <<< EDIT - I think this was a user 'left click - right click' problem. It seems users need to right click to revise text.
2) The fact that we cannot print survey essays (this has already been submitted by someone about two weeks ago and Articulate is looking into it)
Hi Ron - Thanks for the update on your first question :) Regarding question two - do you have a case number for me to follow along?

Here is the case number, Leslie. I took it from the link below: case number

esults-from-storyline-360I hope this gets fixed soon as it is my second last hurdle before going
final. My last hurdle is having a clean way to generate and print completion
certificates. I see Articulate has a work around I might need to use.Regards,
Ron
Thanks so much Ron!
I also wanted to mention that replying to the forums via e-mail attaches your signature. You are welcome to pop in and edit if needed.

Hello,
I have a similar question. I have a 'Review before submit' before final submission. However when I click the 'review before submit' I am able to go back but cannot change any answers. How can I make it happen? Thanks,
