Sorry to hear that you ran into this issue. 

You mentioned observing the issue with the scores after leaving the course open for 4 hours - does it not happen if you complete the course immediately? Also, have you tried testing your course in another LMS to see if you can replicate the behavior there? There's a chance that this issue is LMS-specific, and testing in another environment can help verify this.
