Refreshing a Storyline assessment after 1 year from user failing it

Hi all,

A bit generic question which will require probably a more technical solution but let me try to sum it up.

I'm creating assessments in Storyline that are pure assessment files published as standalone assets in our LMS (an internal LMS that we're building, not an external product and it is not a fully-fledged LMS yet). I would like to understand if there's a setting in Storyline that would "refresh" the assessment after 1 year from attempting it if unsuccessful.

What do I need to set up in Storyline? I assume I would need a custom JS capturing "certain information" although not sure what that should be and have LRS be able to recall it when the time comes? Something like "Quiz attempted at time stamp DD-MM-YY, refresh it to original state". Is that even possible?

Also, could the same be in theory achieved for already passed assessments?

We also need to avoid re-publishing assessments manually in the future since that is not a scalable option. I'm launching the assessments in the next few weeks so I want to make sure I have this function built in right from the first launch.

Any ideas welcome.

Thanks,

Veronika

  • Hello Veronika,

    Happy to chime in!

The expiry date of a course can only be set in an LMS. There isn't a setting in Storyline 360 that can dictate this for you. You'll need to check with your LMS administrator to see if their environment has this functionality available.

You can also check out this community thread where some members shared solutions involving the use of Javascript to achieve the same effect:

While we don't officially support these solutions, we hope they point you in the right direction!
