replacing picture naming issue
I often rename my picture objects from the default 'pic' to a name that describes the picture.
If I later replace that picture, the actual file name 'xx.jpg' doesn't change to the new picture. The original picture file name is preserved although the changed picture shows.
Is there any way to avoid this besides keeping the original list of Pic 1 Pic 2 etc?

I am using 326.18601.0 - I haven't updated to the latest because I'm in the middle of a project.
This behavior has been the same for as long as I can remember.
I would expect to have to change the #1 label, but I wish the #2 label would change to accurately show the name of the picture file. It doesn't.
If you replaced the picture called Hiking.jpg with Skiing.jpg, #2 would still be listed as Hiking.jpg.
The only way I've been able to avoid this is to isert the picture as new, but that means sizing it to match, rebuild any triggers, states etc. Not practical in most cases.

What is the behavior you see? As I said, the way I've described has been happening for a long time -- I've just grown used to it.

Same thing is happening with me. I replace picture and the original name of the picture stays. Very annoying

I am also seeing this bug. I renamed 10 images and when I insert into SL the old names appear.
Example:
- 2. Liability renamed to 3.Liability
- When inserted into SL the name in the timeline appears as 2. Liability
Very frustrating when trying to keep track of drag and drop order.

I am also running into this same bug, very annoying. I had to redo my slide by deleting the pictures, re-adding them and all the triggers. I was then able to duplicate the slide and change pictures to get the desired results. I will, however, need to go to each slide to add states again to the images. This seems like an awful lot of work just to maintain a file. I am on the latest release of Storyline 3.

Hi, I have this issue with image names:
- Renamed Dog.png to Cat.png in Windows 10 file explorer (this image had not yet been used in Storyline).
- Inserted Cat.png into Storyline 3 (updated July 2020)
- File name in Storyline appears as the old name Dog.png
and
- Made a copy of Pony.png in Windows 10 file explorer
- Renamed the copy Horse.png in Windows 10 file explorer
- Inserted both images into Storyline
- Both images appear as Pony.png

Hi, Susan.
Thank you for reaching out!
As Becca mentioned above, the fix for this issue was released in Storyline 360's latest update:
- The object name didn't update on the timeline when replacing one image with another.
Here are the instructions to update your desktop application.
Hi Charles!
Thanks for letting us know what's going on. I tried recreating your steps in my own file. Does this screen recording match what you're seeing?
Which part of the image name does not change on your side, 1 or 2?
Also, let's be sure we're using the same version of Storyline 360. The latest version is Storyline 360, 3.27.18822.0. Are you using that version?
Thanks for those details, Charles. So strange that we're seeing different behavior.

Hi Charles,
Here's a screen recording of the behavior I see in the latest Storyline 360 update: https://360.articulate.com/review/content/70f5ab89-e6f0-49ac-bab7-516702399a22/review
