Resume state on a slide that only has a video on it
Hi All
I have a very short course that in essence has a intro slide, a slide with a video that automatically starts with the slide timeline and a closing slide.
I am experiencing an issue with the resume saved state for the slide with the video on it. We want the slide to resume at the point within the video where the person exited - hence the resume saved state. However when you resume it is restarting the video rather than going to the point on the video timeline where they exited the course.
Any ideas on what i might be doing wrong or what else I can try?
Thanks
Leanne

Hi Leanne
I don't think that you are missing something but you can solve this problem by adding a trigger " pause media (select your video) when user clicks on next button" in this way, video will remain where you left it.
Hope it will work

Hi
Thanks. Unfortunately it really is about them exiting the course rather than moving onto another slide. I need it to resume at the point in the video where the learner exited the course when they log in again.
We are going back to the right slide but not to the right point in the video timeline.

Hi Leanne!
You mention logging in. Is this controlled by your LMS? There is a caveat in our documentation for LMS Resume:
If you choose Prompt to resume or Always resume, and if you'll be hosting your content in an LMS, do one of the following:
- If your LMS supports bookmarking, mark the box labeled When running in LMS, ignore Flash cookie. The LMS will control resume behavior in this scenario.
- If your LMS doesn't support bookmarking, uncheck When running in LMS, ignore Flash cookie. A Flash cookie on learners' computers will control resume behavior in this scenario.
The Resume feature in Articulate Storyline controls how learners will experience your course if it's viewed more than once. See this tutorial for details.

Greetings,
Late to the party.
StoryLine 360 does not have that tick box. How does one accomplish that in 360?
Thanks,

Hello Allen,
We no longer use/need that feature in SL360, so it was removed. You'll be able to just choose the resume setting and go from there.
If you've got a course that isn't behaving as expected in your LMS, we'd want to take a look at it, and know if you were also able to give it a test within the SCORM Cloud environment which is an industry standard for LMS testing.

Hello,
I published the SL project to our LMS. It appeared to work at first. However, I found that more than about 30 seconds into the video when stopping then resuming it simply sits there with the "I'm loading" icon spinning ad infinitum. Any hints on getting it to resume in a timely manner?
Thanks much,

Thanks for the details Allen. Based on how content is pre-loaded, that seems like it should load as expected.
Storyline preloads published content in a specific order to make playback of your courses as smooth as possible. See this article for details.
Were you able to test within SCORM Cloud to see if you could replicate the behavior, if so please share with our team here so that we can take a look.

Leslie,
Thanks for the suggestions.
I did several tests in SCORM Cloud and discovered a pattern. Rather than being tied to play length as I first thought, it appears that when I close the lightbox in which the video plays then the player window, when I return all is well. But when I simply close the player window, then the video playback hangs upon return. The lightbox doesn't fully open and I can't close it so I close the player window. Resuming after that starts from the beginning.
That said, I'll submit the support ticket as you suggested.
Thanks again for your help,

Thanks Allen - please feel free to share the case number when you get that submitted. I'd love to follow along.
