Review text input by the learner after module ending

Hi there,

I have a module where the user enters text. After completing the course, the learner should be able to open the module again on a later time and recheck their former text input. so there is no submit or validation needed.

As I made it work now, the input is saved in a variable and the screens are using 'last save state' in their settings.

After publishing as SCORM, the LMS apparently loses the input after reopening the course. Is this an issue at Articulate side? Are there other, more convenient ways to achieve this?

Enclosed is a screenshot with the triggers I mentioned. Thanks for the feedback!

  • Hi Ben!

I'm happy to help! For the text entry field to be set and not edited again, you'll need to use a quiz question with the trigger to Submit Interaction. You can also add a layer on the slide to prevent the user from changing the text entry field. Lastly, if you choose to use a layer, add a trigger to show the layer when the timeline starts if the text entry is not equal to blank.

Here's a sample project attached to this reply.

    Hi Lauren,

Thank you for your response. Also, a very good idea to show the layer if not equal to blank. I wouldn't have thought of that right away.

FIlling the variable after focus will presumably keep the input available after reopening the module in a standard LMS but not after restarting the course (thus resetting).

    Thanks, Lauren.
