Rise 360, Canvas, and Tracking Completion
Looking for some help with integrating my Rise 360 course with Canvas. I have published my course as a SCORM 1.2 file, with "Tracking Using Course Completion." I've successfully uploaded it to Canvas as a graded assignment. However, when I have a student test the course as an assignment, go through everything, then hit the "exit course" link, it does not track the completion of the course - as in I cannot go to "Grades" and see that they have completed the assignment.
I've been searching forums and help sites both here and in Instructure and cannot find a reason why. Any help would be appreciated! (P.S. Fairly new to all of this)

Hi jraibolt! I'm happy to help! Canvas can read SCORM 1.2 data, but the way Rise reports completion doesn’t always match what Canvas expects. When you use the “Track using course completion” setting in Rise, it only sends a completion flag when the learner reaches a specific point in the course. If they exit before that, even if they’ve done all the work, Canvas might not show a grade.
Here's how to avoid this:
- In Rise, set tracking to “Track using quiz result” (you can use a single knowledge check at the end).
- For the reporting option, choose either:
- Passed/Incomplete
- Passed/Failed
Canvas tends to handle those options more reliably than Completed/Incomplete. Hope this helps! Let us know if you’ve found another approach that works well in your setup.
