Rise and images blurry

Hi,

I really like the labeled graphic block in Rise. However, whenever I upload an image (and this happens in other blocks) it's a bit blurry or pixelated.  For example, if I upload a PPT converted to an image, it looks a bit blurry. Any recommendations for fixing this? I'm not a specialist in image editing by any means, but I'm sure I can figure it out with a little guidance.

Thank you!

    Hi Kandice,

When you upload an image to Rise, it automatically compresses the file which may be causing the blurriness.

If you'd like an image to not undergo compression, you can opt-out of image optimization on a case-by-case basis. Just add _NOPROCESS_ to the name of your image file. It'll upload and display exactly as you saved it.

For example, CAT.PNG will become CAT_NOPROCESS_.PNG

  • You are welcome, Kandice.

If you are still finding your images blurry, feel free to open a support case with us here.  We'll be happy to help out!

  • Is there such thing as an image that is too big? I am getting this weird fade which disappears when the learner clicks on the image and enlarges it.

Hi Libby! Rise 360 optimizes and compresses images with virtually no loss of quality. So you can upload a large resolution images and it will adapt to the dimensions depending on the orientation or devices used.

Which block did you upload this image to? Are you seeing the same thing with other high-resolution images on your course? Would you be able to share the specific image file you used so that we can test it from our end?

You may upload the image file privately to us by opening a case here. Our support engineers are on standby to help you with your concern.

Thanks Angelo! I have even used the _NOPROCESS_ thing to no avail. I used the gallery block. The original image is attached. Interestingly, the centre image looks even worse than the other two, despite being generated the same way (in PowerPoint). Original images are attached too (PNGs)

  • Wow I am impressed, thank you for helping me. I checked your sample, and can see that the no process version seems to have lower quality results. However when I reuploaded on my course again, without using no process, I am still getting these inconsistent results. Rise link here.

  • Hi Libby! Thanks for sharing the link to your Rise course.

I went through it and the images appears to be clear from my end. Here's a quick screen recording of what I'm seeing.

Are you viewing the course from an external display/monitor? Have you tried viewing it from another machine or device without using an external monitor?

  • Aw gee, that is so interesting. While it looks bad on my end, I am glad that maybe it is just my PC. Thanks anyway, I appreciate you investigating.

      No worries, Libby!

You can also open a support case here and share your Rise course with one of our support engineers so that we can take a closer look.

Please let me know if you need anything else.

  • Wow, 6 years later and I find this out. This just saved my project. Is this written anywhere in the RISE documentation? Maybe I need to read more
