Rise inconsistent font sizes
Something that has always irked me when accessibility testing Rise courses is the font sizes in the knowledge check questions. I think there are other blocks that also feature different font sizes, but in this example, it is a multiple choice knowledge check question.
- Above my multiple choice question I have a regular Text block (paragraph): 17px
- Multiple choice question (Question text): 16px
- Multiple choice question (Question options): 15px
- Multiple choice question (Question feedback): 14px
I find this a bit unusual in terms of accessibility and am not sure what the rationale is behind the different font-sizes in some blocks (appears to be hierarchy?), but I always think of users who may be optimising text zoom based on the body text being 17px, and then come to a MCQ where the font sizes get smaller and smaller.
Any chance of this being considered for change in future so that font sizes are more uniform? I tend to adjust these manually when building, but would much rather they came out of the box uniform.
Thanks, Sam.

Hi SamHill,
Thanks so much for raising this concern with our team. I can understand how adjusting the font size manually would be quite tedious. We're currently tracking a request for global font size settings, so I've shared your comments with the product team. We'll circle back with any updates we can share!

Sam, I agree and there is a larger issue concerning overall typography styles. Note the default font size, weight, and spacing between a text block and tabs block. Paragraphs have no bottom margin within tabs, font is smaller and thinner (I'm using Inter font), line height is way different. These are the default styles, besides specifying the Inter font. A visual QA will flag these issues as being inconsistent, I would consider this a UI bug. You can fix these issues if your stakeholder requires it, but it takes a lot of effort.

Hi team,
I was looking for a way of changing the font size for a whole course because of the inconsistencies mentioned above. Another example, is that in the 'Process' block, the font size will change in the preview version, based on how much text is added to each step, despite the fact that the text in the slides themselves is all the same. I've had to go and change the size of all the text manually to ensure that it is all the same size for the audience.
Either way, it would be good to be able to change the font size of the whole course in one easy step (in the same way that you can change the theme, color, etc.)
Thanks for your consideration!
Hi MindaCarl! Thanks for sharing this! Some Rise blocks, such as the Process block, automatically adjust font size depending on how much text appears in each step. Because of that, text can sometimes look inconsistent across a lesson.
You can change fonts from Theme → Fonts, but Rise doesn’t currently include a course-wide font size setting.
I’ve shared your feedback with our product team and will update this thread if there are any updates on this feature.
