Rise or Storyline?
Hello Community. I am tasked with creating a course on how to use our timecard application for EXEMPT employees.
I started in Storyline, but after watching one of your e-learning videos on Building a Course, I'm now wondering if this is the right route to take.
Could anyone offer suggestions on which app I should use to build this course - Rise or Storyline?
Thank you!
Maris

Either will work for you. I'm a Storyline user, not a lot of Rise presentations. I like the flexibility I have with Storyline. I think if I had used Rise more, I might swing that way. In my opinion use whichever works better for you and you are more confortable with as long as you come out with class that gets it's point across and people learn from it.
Good Luck

The way I see it, Rise is great for its ease of use and its mobile-friendly, responsive output. But it's "easier" than Storyline because it's more limited than Storyline.
For courses about using an app, Storyline has a big advantage: recording screens and inserting them as videos, as well as View Mode Step-by-Step slides, Try Mode Step-by-Step slides, and Test Mode Step-by-Step slides.
This link goes to the User Guide article about recording screens. The end of the article has links to more info: Storyline-360-Recording-Your-Screen

You could always have the 'best of both worlds', and embed your Storyline system simulations in your Rise course.

I wouldn't consider that the "best of both worlds." If the main content is the simulation, I think it just adds complexity to the process to publish it to Review so it can be put it into a Storyline block in Rise—a block that won't be responsive and won't be able to resume where the user left off if they exit before finishing.

It sounds like you're pressed for time. If that's true, then go with Rise. It's easier but more limited. Once this project is done, though, I'd circle back to Storyline and learn it. You can do a lot with it and can generate a lot of good projects for your portfolio.
