Rounded corner inconsistency

I am finding that if I have a shape with rounded corners and multiple states -- all states are the same shape -- that if I copy the formatting of one state (e.g. selected) to the Normal state, that the corners are breaking.

Example:

An object that was created prior to the new rounded corner feature shows that its corners are 17%.

When I copy the formatting from one state to another, it still says 17%. However, the curvature is entirely different.

To restore the correct curvature, I need to uncheck "Use Percentages", which immediately changes it to 5, with no visible change to the shape. Then I need to change the value to 17.

I believe this means that old shapes are being brought in with the non-percentage value retained, but saved as if it's a percent of that value instead. So, as soon as anything needs to read the saved value, it is redrawing it incorrectly.

  • Hi HoneyTurner,

Thanks for laying this out so clearly. I can see how frustrating it must be to run into this issue.

You’re spot on about what’s happening. Shapes created before the rounded corner update can still carry their old fixed values under the hood. When you copy formatting, Storyline interprets those values as percentages, which redraws the corners differently.

Your workaround of toggling off “Use Percentages” and then reapplying the value is the right way to normalize those older shapes.

Another option that might save time is to recreate one clean shape with the correct corner radius using the current rounded corner tool, then duplicate it for your different states. That way, everything is based on the new system and stays consistent.

Let me know how it goes! If you’d like more targeted help, please feel free to open a support case so we can look at other possible solutions.

I'm not sure recreating and duplicating is going to be efficient. but, recreating one, then using it to copy/paste the format might work.
