Screen Reader Accessibility for Button States
- 3 months ago
Hi, all!
I have some great news to share! We just released a new version of Storyline 360 (Update 103), which included a fix for the issue where screen readers didn't always announce the visited state of buttons or shapes.
To take advantage of this update, simply launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find step-by-step instructions here.
Please let us know if you have any questions by posting here or reaching out to our Support Engineers directly. We'll be happy to help!
Hi Wenqing,
You're right, and this is a bug we are working on in both Storyline 360 and Storyline 3. We'll share updates here as soon as this bug is fixed. Thanks for chiming in!
Hi Alyssa,
I'm wondering if my issue is related to what has been discussed in this thread. I have two radio buttons, both with Alt text in my Storyline 360 file.
The first radio button in the tab order (CC on) is UNCHECKED and the screen reader (both JAWS and NVDA) announce the following: Radio button 2 radio button not checked.
The second radio button in the tab order (CC off) is CHECKED and the screen readers announce: CC off button radio button checked.
If I select the CC On button and deselect the CC Off button, then the announcements are reversed:
CC On CHECKED: CC on button radion button checked
CC Off UNCHECKED: Radio button 2 radio button not checked
I tested this with 3 web browsers: Google Chrome, IE and Edge and with screen readers NVDA version 2018.1.1 and JAWS 2018.
Is this similar to the issue mentioned above or is this another issue altogether? Thanks for any help!!!
I have attached my Storyline file here if that helps.
