You could also look at recording with Replay to see how each behaves.  

Within Storyline you may want to look at if you're recording at a different size than your story size and then scaling (up or down) to fit within your slide as that may cause some loss of quality. 

Hey Dani, you should also check the quality settings in the publish screen. Here you can maximize the video quality.

Awesome! Thanks guys. Because Screenr uses Java, which Chrome doesn't like, I had a few issues getting that to work properly, but I'm about to test with a re-output of quality settings in Storyline now - THANKS!

FWIW, I found Screencast-o-matic really useful for the (software demonstration) purpose of my current project.

Thanks for the update Dani - I've been using Screenr in Firefox with the issues of Chrome/Java, and that's been working out well for me. 

I always use acethinker screen recorder to make screencast, free and the quality is pretty good.

I have been having issues with quality as well for my screen recordings. I have tried changing the quality settings when publishing and still no luck. Is there anything else I can try to make my screen recordings clearer?

Thanks for reaching out and letting us know what you see with your published screen recordings.

We do advise to follow the tips shared here, especially to set the Player Size to 'Lock player at optimal size' to prevent scaling.

We have seen some reports of users continuing to experience some compression, even when following those recommendations. In this case, I'd recommend sharing your .story file with our support team here so that we can take a closer look while we investigate.
