Selected and visited states still don't make any sense

I still cannot comprehend the design choice in Articulate Storyline that determines a visited state should be visible over a selected state when an object is clicked on. How does that make any sense? Does that mean a selected state cannot exist if there's a visited state? (That would also make zero sense.) Or does that mean both states should look exactly the same (which pretty much defeats the purposes)? 

I really hope Articulate fixes this issue and rethinks the design for these states because they cannot exist together in its current form...
