Shapes moving out of alignment in preview mode
I have shapes nicely aligned in the normal view (stacked rectangles to make a gauge) but when I preview it, they are all akilter. This also happens to some other shapes I have stacked. When it is previwed, the top shape is moved over somewhat, exposing what is below. Any suggestions on preventing this?

Hi Jenny!
So sorry the format is not displayed correctly in Preview mode! Did you by chance build the affected slides in another project and then import them into the current project?
Also, would you mind attaching your file so I can investigate further? You can share the .story file in this discussion by using the "Add Attachment" button or you can share it with me privately by using this link.

Hi Lauren,
Thank you for your response. I used a previous .story file, and Saved As when I started working on my current project.
I then used/tweaked/added pages accordingly.
I will upload it to the link you have sent.
Please could you help me particularly with pages 2.6 Process Overview (you'll see in the working file, the text box is far over to the left to kind of make it work in preview mode, but it's still not right and seems stretched) and 2.8 Having Salary Discussions - the text doesn't display properly, on all text boxes, despite looking fine in edit mode.
Thank you!!
Kind regards,
Jenny Hodgson

Hi,
I'm also having this issue with a speech bubble shape. It appears to be in relation to the way my preview is displaying different resolutions as when I change the size of the window the bubble moves around/changes size/shape.
See attachments below
Thanks for your help :)

Hi Simon!
I'd like to get another set of eyes on this snag! Would you mind sharing the .story file with our Support Engineers in a support case? They'll be able to zero in on why this is occurring and offer either a solution or workaround.
To receive quick help, make sure to include a brief description of what you've tried so far. Here's the link to submit a support case.

Hi everyone,
I was having this issue with image objects looking correct in production but shifted in Preview, but accidentally stumbled on a reason and solution.
My image objects were much larger than the slide. I previously cropped them, but not cropped to the slide edge. When I clicked on the Crop button, suddenly the object appeared as if in Preview - with a strip of blank slide on the left edge. I corrected the object's position, cropped the object to meet the slide edges, and that fixed the issue.
This might not apply to smaller objects, but if you have large objects, it's worth a shot.

Hi Tennille,
Thanks for sharing what worked in your file! I'm sure others who come across this will find it beneficial!

Thanks Tennille. That is not related to the issue I had/have still, but I'm glad you found something that works for you.

Hello, I have this problem with alignment in preview mode. My shapes move out of place when I preview. Why is this happening? - GaboKoCommunity Member
Sorry, here's the attachment. I hope you can help me. I'm driving myself crazy traying to find a solution.

I solved it in the most misterious way... If I align the objects to the right, they appear missaligned in the preview. But if I align them to the left, they appear correctly. Curious!!

This is what the problem was for me too! A text box had right-aligned text and it kept appearing offset in the preview. I left-aligned and it looks correct.

Hi Gabo,
Thanks for sharing your file. I took a look and noticed the same behavior. It seems like during preview, a couple of the text boxes have moved to the Drop Correct position.
I'm glad you could find a solution, but if it keeps appearing, connect with our support team for a closer look!

Not sure if aligning left is a solution. I have objects that are not aligned right or left, but are placed in specific positions They all move down and the left in preview and in publishing. Please let me know if someone if working on the bug and we you should expect it to be fixed.

Hi ! I have the same problem, I added a text box shape for hover states. When I'm editing, the position is perfect and then when I preview / publish it, the shapes are moving out.
SHAPE MOVING OUT ON THE RIGHT : sometimes it's out of the screen so you cannot read the totality of the text box
SHAPE MOVING OUT ON THE LEFT : sometimes it's moving out in the other side and it's not great either cause it's covering up others things on the slide.
What can I do to have the exact same position as when I'm editing the states ?
Many thanks!
Hello Ornella!
I see that you've worked with my teammate, Renato, in a support case! Great call. With your help, Renato was able to log what you see as a possible software bug. We'll keep you update in your case on the progress of a bug fix.
