SL3 issue: "Zoom Picture" is adding a grey border around the image
"Zoom Picture" is adding a grey border around the image.
That is an actual screenshot showing the border it has added.
Hello everyone,
Happy to share that we've just released a new update for Storyline 360!
In Build 3.109.36125.0, we've included essential fixes and new features. One of the bugs we’ve fixed is:
- Rotated images with zoom enabled didn't display correctly.
Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You’ll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let me know if you need additional help.

Thank you Leslie. I wrote that the picture has been rotated, in the comments, on the right of my file, thanks. I know it is because I rotated it. Once again, it's not our job to deal with the bugs of the software. It did work in previous versions of SL.
I'll quote a previous comment: "I'm starting to be really tired, always needing to try to find a detour to get around almost on each bug I'm facing instead of you resolving them in the first place.". What is the point of having a tool to zoom if we have to import the pictures at the exact size they will appear in the slide ? What the point of having a tool to rotate pictures if you cannot use it without generating various bugs ? Idem for cropping ? Thanks for sharing the file, Bérengère.
Since the picture has been rotated, the zoom does appear in the wrong place for this image. It's based on the original image. If you look at the size dimensions, it still holds the original image details and not the rotated version.
If you rotate the image prior to importing, it works as expected.
Check out my addition to your file attached.

Comments are on the right. I can send you the file if you need it but I didn't do anything complicated except importing images and putting a frame and a zoom.
Hello Bérengère,
Really sorry you've run into this issue. Our team is investigating the cause of the border/outline added to images, and we'll keep you posted on what we find out.
I'm curious to hear more about the magnifying glass icon moving when the file is published. Could you share a screenshot that compares what you see in Storyline versus what you see after the file is published?
I'll be standing by!

Same problem here with SL360. Using the integrated "zoom" adds a black thin line around my pictures.
What's more, the picture of the magnifying glass is note at the same place when published than in my working file. It gets in the middle of the picture which is ugly. - MattLangCommunity Member
I have been having to do a similar work-around and it is a huge pain. This problem has occurred ever since the switch to Storyline3. It wasn’t an issue in Storyline2. We’ve been through several updates now and the problem is still not fixed.

Hi Ashley,
In the meanwhile, I'm using the 'fix' that open a new layer when interacting with the image (I trigered on double-click). But, of course, it just add more complexity to my projects (if an image change, I have to change it everywhere and the risk to forget one is here)
Best regards,
Hi Joyce,
I'm sorry this, and other issues, continue to cause detours in your work. I shared those sentiments with my team, and I'll keep you posted here if there are any changes on the status of this issue.

...
I tried to use this functionnality to get around another bug, but I face the grey border as well...
This has been reported a year ago. Is everyone using the Zoom picture functionnality facing this bug? Has someone found a way to use it and remove the grey border? Is it due to the images we use?
I'm starting to be really tired, always needing to try to find a detour to get around almost on each bug I'm facing instead of you resolving them in the first place.
(NB: using SL 360)
