Spinning Hotspot Icon - How to Remove??

I want to remove the spinning hotspot icon (attached a video showing what happens) and only have my pre-built oval show.

I have other instances of hotspots that don't do this but I can't figure out the difference.

  • Under the Insert Tab, you should see a "Remove Freeform Question" and this will turn it into a slide that is not a question

I'm not able to share just a slide but I did see that only this page has the 'question tools' menu whereas our other slides utilizing hotspots do not - this makes me wonder if it was originally set up as a question page and simply no longer needs to be.

Is it possible to change the 'type' of slide easily? Or is it best to recreate?

  • It's not (shouldn't be) a quiz question... Students are clicking next, not submit. The gating we've built just says to jump to next slide if the state of the ovals is normal.

  • The Spinning logo appears to show the learner where they have selected before hit submit.  It only appears on Quiz Questions.  You set your HotSpot question to Submit "On Click" and you would not see it.

I am having a problem with this. I have my hotspot questions set to "on click" but the spinner still shows up in the review slides. I cannot figure out how to remove it from them while keeping all my questions as freeform questions.

        Hi OBryant,

        Happy to help.

The spinning selection indicator you're seeing is expected behavior for Hotspot Questions in Storyline. That animation is part of the quiz interaction itself and is used so Storyline can display the learner's selected location, even during Review Quiz.

Currently, there is no way to disable or customize that animation, but we are tracking a feature request to introduce the functionality. I've included your voice in the report, and we'll be sure to notify you if we release a future enhancement that helps!

In the meantime, you may be able to work around this by creating a custom Review Layer and overlaying objects to cover the spinning cursor. However, this approach is dependent on the current Slide design. If you're comfortable uploading the .story file you've been working with, we're happy to take a closer look.

Feel free to share that here or privately through a support case.
