Storyline 360 Simulations Free Text Issue

When creating simulations in Storyline 360, when entering free text into a system, sometimes it works in the final simulation and sometimes it doesn't - maybe something to do with the AI? In the final simulation, when I have 3 or 4 free form text boxes to enter text, one or two of them will work perfectly and the other's bring up the 'Incorrect' message. I have compared the slides AI has created for all of them and can't see any difference between the ones that work and the ones that don't. I have tried re-recording the process a number of times, making sure to click into the freeform box first, then adding the text 'Test' - the same fro every instance. Does anyone have any insights into this?

  • Hi LeanneLindsay! Thanks for reaching out! It sounds like some of the text interactions aren't captured in the software simulation when recording. This tends to come up in Storyline 360 simulations, especially with text-entry fields.

A couple of things to check:

    • Unique variables: Each text-entry box should have its own TextEntry variable. If two fields share the same variable, only one will validate correctly. The others will always return “Incorrect.”
    • Submit trigger setup: Make sure the Submit interaction trigger is pointing to the right text-entry field. If the slide was auto-generated, it might be referencing the wrong one. That mismatch can cause the “Incorrect” message to show up even when the text is right.

If you're still running into this, don't hesitate to share your .story file in a support case and we'll troubleshoot from there!
