Storyline AI text-to-speech audio repeating issue

Hello - 

The audio for two of my 11 slides repeats. Both slides are pretty basic - just text and images animating on and off the screen in sync with the audio. It's just the audio that repeats - the animations do not. 

The only time I experience this is when I preview or view the Review versions of the slides. I have checked the Notes, AI text to speech input, and the slide settings.

What else should I check?

    Hello SusanRobbins613​   Sometimes Storyline does inexplicable and unexpected things. That's a job for the Articulate staff, so I'll leave it to them.

    But for you: have you already tried completely deleting the repeating audio? And then redoing it entirely?

    In your case, there seems to be “something like” a trigger that restarts the audio at the end of the audio playback. And only in Preview or Review, since you don't see it and didn't create it. It's strange, but rather than trying to figure out why, let's try to find a workaround.

    If this “phantom” trigger is associated with the existing audio, it will also be deleted when you delete the audio.

    Give it a try. It will take you less time than reading this message. And let us know how it goes.

    If you haven't already done so, have you tried redoing the slide (making a copy before deleting the original)?

    If yes: are the two slides on a different slide mask (on which there might be a forgotten or tricky trigger)?

    If no: can you share your .story file?

    Just this morning, I encountered another form of “phantom” trigger: it refused to perform an operation as simple as adding the value 1 to a numeric variable. There was absolutely no reason for this. I had done it 100 times before. I checked 10 times. Finally, I changed the name of the variable and associated the trigger with this new variable. It works. I don't know why.

      Thank you Ron, Thierry and Eric. I have tried deleting and regenerating the audio with no success. I'll just create new slides and hope for the best.

    Can you confirm that you are working on your local hard drive?

      Thank you for responding. Yes, I am working in my local hard drive where Program files are housed.

        Thanks for the detailed description, that’s really helpful. Appreciate RonPrice​ and ThierryEMMANUEL​ chiming in here with suggestions.

        Repeated AI text-to-speech audio isn’t expected behavior, especially if there are no visible triggers and the animations aren’t restarting. Since this is only happening in Preview and Review, a good next step is to try deleting and regenerating the AI audio on one of the affected slides, or duplicating the slide and testing the copy. It’s also worth checking whether those slides are using a different slide master.

        If the audio still repeats after that, we’d recommend opening a support case and sharing the file so the team can take a closer look at what’s happening behind the scenes. We’ll be happy to dig into it with you!
