Hi EduardSchmidt-b!
I'm sorry to hear you've run into these setbacks while authoring in Storyline 360!
I'm happy to help, and allow me to address each of your points individually:
- This messaging can appear when Windows still thinks Storyline is accessing the .story file, often due to cloud sync tools briefly locking the file. To address this, we suggest authoring on your local hard drive. Working directly off of a network drive can introduce latency or unexpected behavior such as this.
- A .story file size of 400 MB can be considered relatively large. Storyline loads the entire project (Slide Layers, audio tracks, video) into RAM at once. Very large or media-heavy projects may hit performance bottlenecks. As I shared previously, working off of a shared drive can exacerbate performance issues.
Storyline retains temporary assets in case an author needs to click Undo, to restore them. The good news is your .story file will eventually shrink, usually after saving it a couple of times. You can help it shrink by saving and closing the project file, then re-opening it and saving it again. Also, you can use a tool called Handbrake to compress your video files. This can help reduce file sizes as well. This article outlines the steps!
- Your PC specs are impressive and exceed those required to run Storyline 360 smoothly. If you're noticing slowdowns or degraded performance, that behavior is likely not being caused by the hardware itself.
- Can you clarify which objects are causing this issue? In Storyline, shapes and images can be clicked and dragged from anywhere on the object. However, if an object has a transparent center, Storyline only allows selection on the actual pixel outline.
- You're correct that Storyline currently does not support changing States for grouped objects. However, we are tracking a feature request to introduce this functionality. I've included your voice in that feature report!
- I see that you've also raised this point in a separate discussion. There, I created a support case on your behalf so our support engineers can have a closer look at this behavior. I see that my teammate Enelluar has received your case and is currently conducting some tests. He should be following up with you again shortly once he gathers more insight.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
