Storyline crashes when running Microsoft Teams

Hi all

Is anyone else having trouble with Storyline crashing and you are also using Microsoft Teams.   I've had 3 crashes in the last week.  Two of which had no recovery.  The last one did recover all but a couple of slides.

My IT Help desk suggested that running Storyline and Teams at the same time is using too much system resource and suggested that I end tasks for Teams in Task Manager before trying to save my work in Storyline (which is when the crash in SL happens).  That's not really practical.

Does anyone have any others suggestions.  The laptop has 16gb of ram and oodles of storage space.

  • Use Teams and Storyline daily, Never had an issue. I also normally have photoshop, illustrator and even Camtasia open too with no issues.

  • Same here... Illustrator,Teams, Storyline and more. But that is on my desktop. On my laptop with only 16 Gb Ram i cannot and using Illustrator together with anything fails. So i guess it might be lack of Ram.

Thanks Math.  My work laptop is an i5.  My personal laptop is an i7 and I haven't had trouble running multiple things but I don't use Teams on that.

Looks like the answer might be for me to use two laptops.  Work for email/Teams (its how we communicate throughout the day) and personal for Storyline.

Does make me question what I need if I was to upgrade my personal laptop.   Any suggestions?

      Kind regards

      Jen

Hard to tell...especially because apparently Richard has no issues with 16Gb Ram in his laptop. Might have to do with processor or something else... im not sure.. i thought Ram was the main issue.

  • I use a 64Bit laptop with 16GB of mem and a I7 processor. 512GB storage. No issues.

  • I use Teams and usually have multiple Illustrator files open at the same time as Storyline360. I've never had a problem. I have an i7 with 32 GB RAM.

  • Hi all

    Update:

This error is still happening even when I don't have Teams or anything much open.  It was referred to a Storyline engineer.  Unfortunately he couldn't reproduce the error.  His suggestions included deleting the previous object (but you can't do that once you have this error and it doesn't always happen after I have inserted an object), and uninstalling/reinstalling and enabling .NET Framework all of which were done previously.

I am posting here again in case anyone else in the community discovers a solution.

  • Did you experience this after the latest update ? I updated and Storyline crashed on videos. So i downgraded 1 version and all works fine again. You might wanna test that...

  • Thanks Math.

I updated to the latest version this morning hoping if might somehow fix it.  Fingers crossed.
