Storyline Crashing

Recently I've had Storyline crash on me a couple of times, I lost some work but nothing catastrophic. I've been using Storyline for years. I usually run Storyline on my MacBook with Parallels. I'm wondering if it is due to my work-supplied computer. My computer is a Dell with 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1235U 1.30 GHz. Could that be causing my crashes?

  • Hi CaryGlenn1!

Sorry to hear Storyline has been crashing on you! I understand how frustrating losing work can be!

It's possible this behavior is related to the 1.30 GHz of your CPU. We recommend 2.0 GHz of processing power when authoring in Storyline 360. Are you finding these crashes occur specifically with one .story file or across multiple, different courses?

Also, you may be able to retrieve a working backup of your .story file from your temp folder. Here's how:

    1. Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline
    2. Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of your project. If you find one, copy it to your desktop. If you find more than one, copy the latest version to your desktop.
    3. Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.
    4. Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.

Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any more questions!
