Storyline file not opening
Hi Guys,
We are currently working on a project where the client has shared Articulate Storyline source files from an older course. However, when we try to open these files, we encounter the following error message:
“This project is invalid or corrupt and cannot be opened. It may have been created in an earlier version of Storyline.”
Assuming the files were created in an earlier version, we checked the published output and identified that the version used was Articulate Storyline 3 (version 3.0.1.0).
We attempted to access this version (including trial options) to verify compatibility, but we were only able to install Storyline 3 version 3.20.30234.0. Unfortunately, the files are not opening in this version either.
There is no option to upgrade the file to newer version.
Could you please advise on the best possible solution to open or recover these source files?
Regards,
Sayali S.

It sounds like the files may have been stored improperly, maybe in the cloud or on an external drive. Storyline files should be stored on your or the PC harddrive. If you open a case and send the file to Articulate they may be able to open it and save it for you. I would go in that direction.
Hi SayaliSathe-1d7,
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing file corruption in Storyline!
Great to see that Eric has been helping you. As he shared, we're happy to review the affected .story file and determine if the content can be recovered. I've opened a support case on your behalf and sent an email with an upload link you can use to share the file privately with our team.
Let's continue the conversation through your case.
