Storyline keeps changing my slide order

I have been working in a project for a few weeks and just noticed at some point Storyline360 changed my slide order. See in the attached image that slide 1.12 and 1.13 are not sequential. Initially I tried to drag and drop the slides back in order But these slides won't drop into any place other than where they are. I then tried a back door technique of cutting the slides and then pasting them back in their proper place - this worked for a day but then after deleting a slide much further up stream slides 1.12 and 1.,13 went right back to the order in the screenshot. I have also tried resetting slide order from within the player menu. This also works most of the time, but any change anywhere else in the project puts the slides back out of order. There are no hard links on any of these slides (they only have jump to prev and next) the only hard path is they all come from a main menu slide (slide 1.10) and all have a return to main menu button.

My biggest negative memory of Storyline 1 was slide numbering and order (i.e. issues just like this) and now in 360 I am seeing the same issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've done some digging and still can't seem to find the solution to this issue. this odd reordering happened on making changes to the existing SL file - not changes in the slide order or triggers, but basic (non-linked) text/graphic changes - very random. I tried all I could think of but nothing seemed to work. On preview and export everything works as expected, but it is confusing seeing this order of the slides.

All the previous and next buttons are hard coded to the name of the slide (tried using Jump to next slide too and the result was the same). You can see that the order is all mixed up but the slides are numbered correctly and functionally it's all good, but I'd really like to have this file fixed before sharing with client.

I update Storyline regularly and have discovered this issue a few versions ago.

    Thanks in advance,

    Ana

      Hi Ananas,
I think my issue was solved by hard coding the pages like you said. I had to start with all slides set to "Undecided," put them in order as needed within each scen, then hard coded the pages LAST. Using Jump to Next/Previous amde jumping between Scenes was hard to manage.  It seems to be a SL flaw in my opnion. The TOC/Menu even alters what the end user sees on export.  Makes it very difficult for tracking changes since there is no way to fully reference a page/slide. Even in Captivate we have to hard code the page numbers. Sigh.  Thanks for the input. Honestly forgot I submitted this issue. :)

      Hi @AnaKatanica,

      Thanks for reaching out!

Does this happen with one specific file or multiple files?

If you're working locally and the issue persists, taking a closer look at your file would be helpful. You can upload it here or privately in a support case, and we'll delete it from our systems once troubleshooting is complete.
