Storyline Review Updates in Rise

Hey all,

I would like when I update a storyline 360 course in review, that it automatically updates in it's corresponding Rise location.

The Q&A says Rise doesn't do this, but is there a workaround to make this function so I don't need to update the some storyline block in multiple locations with every update?

It would be great if there could be a feature in Review that says something like, "This project is embedded in X RISE projects. Would you like to refresh the instances this project is used in RISE?" Or in RISE, a way of somehow clicking a button to refresh all Storyline embeds. Maybe something like the Media Library in Storyline that shows there's a newer version and you can update easily.

Hi EPurtell! Thanks for sharing this idea. We hear that updating embedded Storyline projects in Rise takes extra steps and makes it tough to keep everything consistent.

You’d like a way to quickly refresh all embedded projects. For example, if you update the Media Library in Storyline, it would be helpful to globally update all Rise 360 courses that use that same Storyline course. We’ve passed this along to our product team so they know it’s important to you.

  • ENHANCEMENT REQUEST:

For maintenance purposes, please Articulate 360 can you create an automatic update feature for embedded Storyline content in Rise?
Currently, when we update a Storyline 360 course in Review 360, it does not automatically update in the corresponding Rise location. We need to create a tracker for these and manually update each instance where the Storyline block is embedded in your Rise course. This is quite manual and error-prone!

It seems like for the Storyline block, Rise generates a new URL each time content is updated, which is different from how the rest of the site works. In Review 360, the link stays the same even after updates, making it easier to share with reviewers. Why not use the same design principles as for those share links so the content automatically updates?

  • Hi Bea,

    Thanks for reaching out!

I see my teammate, Joe, replied to you in a separate thread. As he mentioned, this function isn't currently supported, but our team is tracking this request.

    I hope this helps!

  • Thanks Tom, that example looks great. I'm asking my company for dedicated webspace so that I can integrate this approach. We're using storyline interactions as modular blocks, so they will likely be in multiple locations and I need to make sure any updates happen in all instances.

Hi Tom, I'm also interested in publishing Storyline, saving it to a secure server and inserting into Rise. Could you walk me through the steps of how to do that, please?

When you insert a Storyline block into a Rise course, it makes a copy of what's on Articulate Review.

So when you update what's on Articulate Review, you manually have to load a fresh copy into the Rise course for each instance of the Storyline block.

I understand, it is odd Rise copies it from review instead of having me load in a zip package or story file, but is there a workaround?

For example, has anyone tested out using an imbed block that links out to a published storyline location? That way multiple instances of that block will look to the same published link?
