Hi Janelle,
Whether or not your students will lose their tracking history depends on how your LMS functions.
- Most LMS's will treat the updated course as a brand new course. Students that are in progress will need to restart the course. No student data from the previous course will be carried forward.
- A few LMS's provide a choice to replace the existing course and will maintain existing student progress data.
I don't have any experience with Moodle, so I can't tell you how it will behave when you import a new version of your course.
