Subtracting number variables
I am creating a budget module where they learners select the income and expenses then there needs to be a calculation that subtracts the income from the expenses to give the total budget balance. But I cannot get the balance calculation to work out correctly.

Can't tell exactly what's going wrong without seeing the file, other than to say that your triggers are wrong.
To calculate the Balance variable, you first need to set it to the value of the Income variable. Then you need to subtract the value of the Expenses variable. So the triggers for the calculate button would look like this:
