Text to Speech Voices

I love that Storyline has the text to speech options, but I am looking for other voices that can either be purchases and implemented through Storyline or something similar.

Any suggestions?

  • Hi Teresa and EDSU,

Thanks for sharing the additional languages you'd like to see included!

Unfortunately, it's not possible to buy additional languages, but I’ll be happy to pass your thoughts on to our product team, and you can also feel free to detail them more through a feature request!

Just found this thread and hoping Articulate has taken some action.

Our company has several facilities in the Bahamas and the best we can do is force them to use American English or British English. American English is a little tougher to understand, while British English brings with it the whole specter of the rather fraught history of the Colonial era where most Bahamians were enslaved or otherwise oppressed. We want to avoid association with this period and use a native-sounding voice.

      Hello William,

Thank you for following up here and sharing the importance of having additional language options in Storyline.

I've added your voice to the report we're tracking for increasing language options, and as soon as we have updates to share, you'll be notified now that you're subscribed to this thread.

  • Hi, I would appreciate if better quality voices are integrated into articulate, even we have to pay extra for them : I do not like the robotic sound of the existing ones. Looking forward to have more accents, variety and quality. Thank you

  • I have just discovered this comment thread.  Has any progress been made? Is there a way to download TTS voices apart from the few default choices - one with a British accent perhaps?

      Hello Don, Anjie, Hajer,

I just wanted to share some news about Storyline 360 Update 80. This update might be interesting for you since you’ve explored other options to improve the quality of TTS. In update 80, we have taken advantage of Amazon Polly’s neural text to speech feature. You will see better versions of most of the voices when inserting TTS audio. These will show up in the same place as the standard voices, under “Neural Voices”. These are voices that sound more natural and human-like and are considerably higher in quality compared to the older standard TTS voices.

A list of these voices can be found  here. Updating Storyline 360 to the latest version is super easy, here is the guide in case anyone needs it.

Sonya, there is are a few English (UK) voices in this update too.

We will continue to keep tabs on requests to support ways to control emphasis, speaking rate, inserting silence, pronunciation and SSML support in general. Please let us know of any feedback (good or bad), around this enhancement and we’ll be happy to pass it along to our dedicated team of engineers.

      All the best,

  • Hi Sonya,

Additional voices and the ability to use third-party voices have already been submitted as a feature request. We are continuing to track this request. I'm adding your voice to the report. This conversation will be updated when there are any updates on this issue.

    Thanks for reaching out!

Adding onto this request as the original post is FOUR years old.  I'd like to have at least character voices that match the characters available in Storyline.  I'm working in English so that would be great if there was an English accent that matched Craig.  The options are a real stretch.

Hi, we have the same problem - missing Slovak and Czech language. Did not you consider to add them, please? I saw there more requirement for this languages.

  • Hi, I wanted to clarify the new Neural Voices for Text-to-Speech. Is that something that is automatically included with our subscription? Do we need to do anything besides updating our version to access them?

Hello Jennifer, this is something that comes with the subscription, and using Update 80 or later will allow you to access them.
