Tips and Tricks for Speedy Downloading of Articulate Storyline Courses

Hi All,

I'm a long-time Articulate Storyline user and love its versatility. One area that I'm not quite as happy about is the download speed of the courses themselves.

I understand the way AS works (i.e. downloading the following three slides in sequence, standard "Best Practices") and that server speed/end gadget speed all play a significant role. However, one of my New Years resolutions for 2024 is to make the fastest (i.e. in terms of downloading) AS courses possible.

I'm sure I'm not alone in this, so I thought that maybe we could collect some tips here (as the previous similar thread is rather old).

For example,
(1) Is there anything you've discovered in your AS-Learning Curve that has significantly affected the download time of your courses?
(2) In your experience, is it faster to (a) include videos in the course itself or (b) embed videos as web objects?
 (3) In your experience, does the MB/GB-size of a Storyline project have any impact on the download speed?
(4) Do you know of any consultants that have experience with optimizing the download speed of AS-courses?
etc.

Cheers,
Gerhard

  • Hello Gerhard,

Thanks for starting this thread! I'm sure this will come in handy to anyone who comes across this looking for the same answers. I also wanted to drop this article here which contains some tips on building courses that would perform well even when viewed on networks that aren't relatively fast.

I'm excited to see what others share here!
