Toggle text-to-speech voiceover on and off
Hello everyone :)
I feel a bit silly asking this, as I've used Storyline for years (currently using 360 with the AI add-on) - I feel like I should know the answer!
I'm inserting a text-to-speech voice over on each slide in a project, but I want it to default to not playing unless the learner opts to turn it on. And I want them to be able to do that on any slide, not just at the start.
I've tried adding a button to each slide and using states to play or pause the media, which works lovely, but only on that slide - they have to turn it back on with each new slide - if they turn it on, I want it to stay on unless they turn it off again.
I can't use a button on the slide master, as we have imagery on the slides that covers it.
I've seen mention in discussions about using the player, but I don't show that, so that's not an option either.
Previously I've done it as a true false variable at the start of the module, but I want them to be able to change their mind at any point and that means they can't.
Anything I can think of would only work on each slide - can anyone advise on a solution that would work across all slides? Thanks!

You could put the toggle-button that controls the T/F variable on the Slide Master. Another option would be to put it on a slide that can be lightboxed from a Player-level tab.

Actually - I think the slide master may be the solution! I've discovered that I can set my images/ coloured shapes as a background and then they don't cover it! I love that even after years of use, you can still learn new things about storyline every day!

Yes! There is always something new to learn. Or something old. 😁

Thanks Judy. I tried the slide master idea - I think that would have been the best solution, but on every slide we either have an image or coloured shape at the bottom of the timeline, and that covers the button up :(. I'll give the other option a go though.
