Translation Import Not Working
I’ve tried multiple times, and I also had a coworker try using the import feature for translated on‑screen text. We didn’t receive any error messages, only a notification indicating that the import was successful. However, nothing changes in the slides.
Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Hi SylvieWhitehead,
Sorry to hear that you're having trouble translating a Storyline course!
It sounds like you're using our legacy translation method, as I don't see Articulate Localization enabled for your account. The behavior you shared usually means the translation file was imported successfully, but Storyline didn’t detect any valid changes to apply. With the Word translation method, this can be caused by an issue in the file structure or formatting.
Can you please check and confirm if:
- The original table structure in the Word doc was modified or not (no columns/rows added, removed, or rearranged)?
- Only the translation column was edited, leaving the source text unchanged?
Also, if a third-party translation tool was used, it may have altered the formatting in a way Storyline can’t read.
As a quick test, please try:
- Opening your exported Word file.
- Changing one piece of text in the translation column to something obvious (e.g., “TEST123”)
- Import it back into the same Storyline file.
If that update appears in your course, it means the issue is likely related to how the translation content or formatting was handled.
If you're still having trouble, we're happy to review your files and test them on our end. Feel free to share your .story/translation files here in the discussion or privately through a support case.
