My colleagues and I discovered recently the joy of playing with xliff files. We follow the steps as recommended before, for people who want to have only one xliff master per course:
- Put your courses in a MASTER folder
- Be sure each course has some code in the title that will not be translated, like 'PHYS101'
- export the xliff files and give it to translators
- Don't change anything in your master courses anymore
- Create duplicates of the courses
- Create a folder 'English' (assuming your original are in English)
- Move the duplicate in that folder
- you got your xliff files of translations, let's say in German
- Import your xliff files in your course: your master course are not in German. but your recognise which one is which because the code 'PHYS101' is still in the title!
- Now duplicate each course
- Create a folder 'German' somewhere
- Move the duplicates there
Your master will be always in the last language version.
You should be very organised and methodic...
