Updating SVGs in Storyline
Hi PeterMoore1ā!
Sorry to hear you're having trouble updating SVG images in Storyline!
I tested the same process with two SVG images, but did not experience any erratic behavior when updating the media. I have some follow-up questions to help us troubleshoot this better:
- Are you working with locally-stored .story and SVG files? Working directly off of a network drive may introduce erratic behavior such as this.
- Does Storyline produce any error messages when the crashing occurs? If so, seeing a screenshot of the error would be helpful.
- Does using the Media Library to replace the image (instead of right-clicking the element) produce the same unexpected behavior?
Also, if you're comfortable sharing a copy of your affected files (.story and SVG) we'd be happy to test them on our end. Feel free to share those items here in the discussion or privately through a support case.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Hi Steven - to answer your questions:
- Files are stored locally (D drive - a local drive - not mapped to a network location) - always work this way
- No error messages from Storyline - it just becomes unresponsive/crashes and needs to be restarted
- Tried using media library - also seeing the same behavior - intermittently.
Additionally
- Fault does not occur every time an image is placed or replaced. Can usually do a few replacements before each crash.
- Also noting the problem is occurring when placing .png files as well as .svg's
- Also seeing the problem occasionally when just importing a new .png using the toolbar controls:
Insert -> Picture -> Picture from File
No file for sharing available at this time - this problem has been reported by others on the forum and previously noting that Articulate have commented on how they/you are chasing down or have logged related bugs. Perhaps that work needs to be stepped up and given more priority?
