User Bug Reporting

My team was hoping to include some sort of baked in bug reporting feature, something where users could report a bug they experienced directly to us while they are going through the course in the LMS, preferably with a screenshot if possible.  Is there a standardized feature that does such a thing?

  • Hey Andrew,

nothing baked in, I'm afraid, at least not for published modules, but you could rather easily build something by connecting the "Send e-Mail"-trigger to a button of your chosing. If you don't want to add a copy of said button to each slide, but use a button from the player-interface, you could use the player's "Submit"-button on your non-quiz slides and relabel that "Submit"-button to "Report Bug" in the player settings under "Labels", the tie that button to the "Send e-Mail"-trigger.

If you want to go one step further, you could customize an e-mail template using javascript and use the "Execute Javascript"-trigger instead, see this article for further reference: https://community.articulate.com/discussions/building-better-courses/export-variable-values-via-email-message-using-javascript

  • Hi Andrew! 👋 Thanks for posting your question here! I know you mentioned the course is in the LMS, but I did want to share just in case that Review 360 is a great way to gather feedback (with screenshots) beforehand. But I also know sometimes, things can still go unnoticed. To go along with what Marc shared, perhaps adding a custom tab to the player could do the trick. For example, you could name the tab "Report a bug" and because it's in the player, it would always be visible and clickable when the learner needs it. You can have that tab lightbox a slide with specific instructions, open a URL to report, send an email, or more. Just throwing out some ideas! I hope you find something that works for your needs!
