Vendor Storyline course zip files import to Storyline to update?
A Storyline file is actually zipped content. You can try changing the extension from .zip to .story. But that will only work if they gave you a .story file with the wrong extension.
Otherwise, if the .zip file simply contains the published version of the course, there's no way to import that to get an editable .story file. The best you can do is go into that content and retrieve the media assets.
When courses are published and exported from Storyline, they do not include the original project files (.story extension), which are required for future editing.
Judy’s suggestion would only work if the file was originally a .story file that was renamed to .zip. In that case, you could try renaming it back to .story, though I don't think that's the case here.
If the vendor still has the original project files, it would be best to reach out to them for those. Alternatively, you can recreate the course using the published version as a reference. As Judy suggested, it’s also a good idea to try and retrieve the media assets from the published course.
