Video Controls / Custom Player
In a custom player I saved, I specified a Play/Pause button and have the seekbar set to "Read Only" since I don't want the learner to FF through the video. In the player preview, both show at the bottom left, below the video.
However, on the slide that has the embedded video from a file, it doesn't show up because "Show Video Controls" is set to NONE. If I set the video object to BELOW VIDEO, it shows its own seekbar and allows fast-forwarding by dragging it, and the Play/Pause button and seekbar specifed by the custom player are nowhere to be found.
I know I've got the custom player selected because everything else I changed is there.
Hints??

Hi Nancy
you could place a transparent shape (shape with a fill set to 100% transparency not NO FILL) over the video and then the user can't access the controls to drag

I figured it out!! On the video slide, under Slide Properties -- Player Features, make sure Seekbar is checked. Then it puts the seekbar the custom player specifies and DOES NOT allow the user to advance it (because of the "Read Only" setting in the custom player).

... and make sure you change "Player Defaults" under Player Features to "Custom for the selected slide" so you can see the Seekbar checkbox...

Hello Nancy,
I am following the transparent option indeed it is useful, however, with the latest version when the user/learner switches to the full-screen mode they can easily fast forward the video. Do we have any solution for this?

Push come to shove that's what I may try, but I really don't want a band-aid fix. It seems if they give these options for a custom player they should work in harmony with the slide. Maybe a 3rd option on the "Show Video Controls" drop-down that lists the saved custom players and it defaults to the controls in the one you choose.
Glad you were able to get this sorted, Nancy.
I appreciate you sharing with the community :)
Hello Rajesh,
I tried placing a hotspot covering the video controls of a video to prevent myself from being able to click on seekbar, and I can confirm that this worked in preventing me from fast forwarding through the video. This did, however, prevent me from accessing the full screen button of the video. I've attached a sample file that I used for testing, and here's a link to the sample published output.
You mentioned placing a transparent shape on top of the video controls that still allowed you to enter full-screen mode. Would you be willing to upload a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can review your project file? I'll delete it as soon as I'm done testing it.
