Visited state not working

Based on just the description, it sounds like the Normal state might have images inserted into it. The built-in states are built on top of Normal, so anything extra in the Normal state will appear in Hover, Selected, and Visited states. If you don't want to see it, you have to cover it up. (Here's more info about built-in states.)

If that's not the issue, try again to attach the .story file. Here are the best practices for doing that:

• Only include slides that are related to the problem.
• Be sure objects, layers, motion paths, and variables have meaningful names.
• If there is proprietary content, replace or delete it. For example, replace proprietary text with “ipsum lorem” text.

MarianaEscrzaga​: It looks like you deleted the oval shape from the Visited state and inserted a separate text box.

As I tried to explain earlier, the image that fills the shape in the Normal state appears because the other built-in states are layered on top of Normal. 

In this case, there's an easy fix. Delete the Visited state. Then add a new one. Change the fill of the oval to white (that is, to match the background of the slide). 

Also, you don't necessarily need a separate text box in the Visited state. You can enter text directly into a shape. Just double-click the shape and start typing. 

You can adjust where the text appears by adjusting the Vertical alignment and the Margins in Format Shape>Text Box.

Note: If the text needs to be wider than the oval, that would require a separate text box. 

The attached file has the change made in just the first oval. I kept the border, but you can change that to white, too, to make it disappear.

Well, the fact that the objects can't be properly selected on the slide suggests that they became corrupted at some point during the editing process. If this issue doesn't bother you as much as it bothers me, you can go ahead and apply the fix that Judy suggested in her post.

To fully resolve the problem, I exported the original images from the Media Library, reimported back to the shapes, and recreated the Visited state with a white fill and the text inside it. After that, all objects could be selected and manipulated normally, without the confusion of not knowing which object was actually selected on the slide.

In the end, these things happen to everyone, especially when we're under time pressure and rushing through edits without paying close attention to how objects are being copied and pasted repeatedly.
