Web Object Accessibility focus

Hi Dave,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you are currently working on.

• Have you tested the accessibility of the web object outside of Storyline?
• Are you able to tab through the interactive objects?

I've tested an accessible site in an iframe on the slide as well as a website that opens in a new tab and both are working in the Storyline published output. Here is my sample.

Thanks for the example, it shows that tabbing is working on your in-slide web object, however, I cannot get the focus of the page within the web object without selecting it with a mouse. Please go to Topic 1 Page 12 for the example.

Are you referring to Plan Sheet 28 on Page 12? It looks like this is an image. I can tab to the item with the keyboard and hit enter to get the same results as selecting with a mouse. You can see the focus indicator below:

• What browser are you viewing the content with?
• Do you experience a similar result when you publish to your final environment, or are you only seeing this in Review 360?

Yes, that is the Plan Sheet. You are correct, you can tab to and open the plan sheet via the keyboard, what you can't do is move around the image in the webpage (web object) via the arrow keys on the keyboard unless you give it focus via a mouse click. (Sorry, should have clarified my initial question. Enter key or Space Bar do not give it focus)

Browser: Microsoft Edge (chromium edition, not the old one)

This will eventually be on an external web server as well as an LMS but for now, just working in Review360.

I assume, since you are using an image, that we are focused on keyboard navigation here.

I am seeing the same behavior you are reporting, so I've submitted this as a bug for our team to look into. I wanted to share some information on how we define bugs and how we tackle them when they occur.

In the meantime, if you set the web object to open in a new window, you can use the keyboard navigation as expected.

I prefer to keep this plan sheet inside SL instead of launching it in a new window but if we have to move it out, I will. Hopefully your team will be able to resolve this issue quickly and make the web object more accessible.

I have overcome this issue using Javascript. Set execute javascript on timeline start. 

var iframe = document.querySelector('iframe.shown');
if (iframe) {
    iframe.focus();
}
