What's this new button in Storyline?
I have recently updated to the latest version of storyline. I'm not a fan of some of the changes such as the copy/paste triggers being altered in such a way that it is now more efficient to just start each trigger from scratch. But I cannot figure out what the 'person' icon in the timeline is for
I have clicked it on and off and it hasn't changed anything, and there is no hover text for it so I'm a little stumped. Can anyone enlighten me please?
Hello AlannaOConnell-,
Glad that Judy jumped in here! Happy to share more details about what you're seeing in the timeline.
That “person” icon on the Storyline timeline lets creators show or hide all slide objects from screen readers and keyboard navigation item by item or all at once.
Here's a quick visual for your reference!
I hope this helps!

Thanks for the video that shows what is going on. I do not get any text of the icon's function when I hover over it (or the lock and visual icons, for that matter). Probably the reason Alanna made the post.

Hi LucianaPiazza ,
Firstly, thank you for illustrating via the short video - this always helps especially if it identifies a systemor setting issue.
In this case, as I mentioned and as BarryHollembeak also experienced, I have no hover text for those buttons, so no explanatory text. Would this be a setting in Storyline do you think, or should this be logged with support as a defect?
Thanks, Alanna.
Hi AlannaOConnell- & BarryHollembeak,
Happy to jump in here.
Storyline does not have a setting for enabling/disabling Tooltips. They should appear automatically as part of the Windows UI when hovering over controls in the authoring environment. When testing, all Tooltips displayed as expected on my end.
If repairing your Storyline installation doesn't improve the issue, you may need to check your Windows Visual Effects settings.
- Navigate to System Properties > Advanced > Performance Settings.
There, you can ensure that any option related to Tooltips is enabled.
Let me know how it goes!

That lets you remove an item from the Focus Order without having to open up the Accessibility window.
