When I export a video as an MP4, the trigger that lowers the background audio doesn't apply

when I publish the video, the audio volume is not muted to the level set in the trigger  Is there a way to ensure that the published mp4 file is the same as the published version?

  • Hey Ari_Avivi,

Sorry for the confusion, but this is the expected behavior when publishing a Storyline file to Video.

The Storyline Player and interactive triggers aren’t included in the output. The trigger that lowers your background audio references the built-in Player.BackgroundAudioVolume variable, so that volume change won’t carry over to the MP4 output.

If retaining the trigger-driven volume change is important, we suggest publishing for Web or LMS instead. Those outputs can preserve that interactive behavior for you.

Please let me know if you need anything else!

      Thanks for this clarification.

It would be great to have an option in the background audio menu, much like there is for changing the behaviour when audio is on the slide, to set the audio level globally.

In my case the customer wanted to show the end product at a convention and didn't want rely on wifi, and sending them a huge folder (publish for web) wasn't the best option for a very low tech savvy presenter.

Can this suggestion be passed to your development team please.

It is by no means ideal, but you could use a screen recorder to create the convention video.
