Hey StevenBenassi! Just following up with a concern I’ve been running into while working in Storyline.
I’m currently using a virtual machine to run Storyline, and even on an ultrawide 32” monitor, the ribbon and UI elements appear very small and difficult to read when using default (Application) DPI settings. The same issue occurs on a native 13” Windows device, where the interface does not appear as sharp or comfortable to work with compared to a 15” laptop.
When attempting to improve usability by adjusting Windows DPI settings or overriding high DPI scaling behavior, the editor becomes more readable. However, this introduces another issue: when the same source file is opened on a different machine, text rendering and line spacing can appear noticeably different, which makes it difficult to maintain consistent typography and layout standards across developers' devices.
As someone who is very detail-oriented during the design and development process, having both a sharp, readable interface and consistent text rendering across environments is important for maintaining quality and standardization.
Is there any plan to improve Storyline’s DPI handling so that:
- The UI scales more comfortably on high-resolution and large displays without requiring DPI overrides, and
- Text rendering and spacing remain consistent across different devices when opening the same source files.
Thank you for your time, and I appreciate any insight you can share.

Thanks for taking the time to explain this so clearly, ElishaUllith. You’re describing a real limitation with how Storyline handles DPI and scaling today, especially for teams working across different devices, resolutions, and environments.
At the moment, Storyline relies on Windows DPI behavior, which means there isn’t a built-in way to independently scale the UI. As you’ve experienced, using DPI overrides can improve readability, but they can also affect how text renders and flows when the same file is opened on another machine. That tradeoff makes it difficult to maintain consistent typography and layout standards across a team.
Silverfire’s setup shows how some authors work around this with specific monitor and scaling configurations, but as you pointed out, that approach doesn’t scale well in collaborative or enterprise workflows.
I’ve shared your feedback with our product team so they can better understand the need for more reliable, built-in UI scaling that works well on modern displays without introducing cross-device inconsistencies. We really appreciate you calling out both the usability and collaboration impact here.
