xAPI and reports

Does anyone know why an LMS wouldn't capture if the learner got the question right or wrong? I'm getting attempts, question name, but not if the question was correct or not. Would it be because the questions are set up as freeform and not graded?

  • Hmm - no score showing in my summary report. The "answers" report is completely empty - but the assessment report shows question titles and attempts. I did submit this to articulate, but client is in a rush, so thought i'd post here in case anyone had any ideas!

  • Are you using a results slide and only reporting via the results slide, any chance it is completing via another method?

Have you tried testing in scormcloud.

  • there is a "complete" button I have on the very last slide, but the results submit the slide previous. Unfortunately, the file is too big to test on scormcloud :(

Have you got a results slide or are you using a submit trigger? (It won’t work without a results slide. Are you using a complete trigger? Can you post a picture of the tracking you set up for xAPI just want to check iy is not a configuration issue at your end.

  • Yep! Have a results slide :) This is broken up into different units and 8 languages, each unit having a post test with "review" enabled, so that why there are multiple results, I definitely have the right ones selected to submit at the end of the course.

The "complete course" trigger is on the last slide per client's request to ensure everyone gets marked as complete "just in case"

I appreciate you taking a look Phil!

It will only do one or the other whichever comes first. But based on your explanation the results slide is always first. How do the other languages mark complete?

Can you export only the assessment and test in scormcloud?

  • That's a good idea, I'll try testing that way.

But - would it be because my freeform choices are rectangles with text vs. text boxes

      Hi Allan,

I'm happy to jump in! When you publish to LMS, Storyline sends quiz data to the LMS, including whether the learner answered the question correctly or not.

Using rectangles with text as freeform choices should not affect LMS reporting. I agree with Phil that it's best to test the course in SCORM Cloud to rule out an issue with the LMS.

Thank you for reporting this in a support case as well and sharing your Storyline project! Please expect one of our support engineers to reach out to you via email shortly. We'll continue the conversation there.

Freeform isn’t the problem, my gut says it is the reporting. Scormcloud will check if it is right. If it works there it is your clients LMS.

SCORM Cloud will definitely report the free form question.

  • Hi all - thank you for your tips! I got rid of the course complete trigger and now I at least get a score reported. So maybe it was that. Thank you so much!

  • I'm back :( I'm having an issue of the LMS only picking up correct/incorrect and showing A is the correct answer for every question. Any ideas why SL would be reporting that? It used to generate correctly but stopped for some reason :(

Would you be able to create a shorter version of this project and share it with the community? I would still test it in the ScormCloud to see if this issue is reproducible or it just doesn't work in the client LMS.
