Faster ways to QA narration, CC, and Notes in Storyline

Hi! Does anyone have tips or hacks for making sure narration matches the CC and Transcripts/Notes? My job requires this along with specific formatting for certain words.

What I've been doing:

- Using Search & Find to look for specific words

- Exporting narration .vtt files and comparing them to the Notes

Both work but are really tedious. On top of that, some words in the TTS/AI narration have to be spelled phonetically to get the right pronunciation, so the generated CC text doesn't always match what should actually appear in the CC and Notes.

Has anyone found a faster way to manage this? Any workflow tips would be appreciated!

TIA!

Hi MaryEmma_Gary - To answer your question:

I add the narration script to the Notes section first and format it as needed. When I'm ready, I generate the narration using AI (Add from Slide Notes, include any phonetic spellings for words the AI mispronounces). From there, my review breaks into three passes:

    • Narration vs. Notes
    • CC vs. Narration
    • Full course review

I also go in and edit the CC breaks before finalizing.

I don't think there's a more efficient way of doing this without being able to add pronunciation rules in the TTS editor.

My process is the same as yours:

      • Transcripts go in the Notes
      • Transcripts get approved by stakeholders during 1st round of reviews
      • TTS generated from approved transcripts
      • Manually edit CC to replace any phonetic spellings that have been included. I don't usually need to adjust any CC timing as SL is very accurate.

As mentioned above, if SL gave us the ability to add pronunciation rules that would be a significant upgrade that would make life easier.

  • Hey KN2026, great question that I hope we can brainstorm a better solution for! Right now what is your workflow for generating the CC/Narration/notes? Is there one you start with and then upload, or are you building the course then having a narration generated?
