SL Template Slide for importing questions
Hello, I'm new to Storyline and currently preparing to import over 1,000 multiple-choice questions from text files. Before doing so, I’d like to set up a basic slide template to streamline the process and avoid repetitive adjustments afterward. Specifically, I want to predefine essential layers (such as correct, incorrect, and review), choose the desired font type and size, and possibly include a few custom states. My goal is to ensure that once the questions are imported, they automatically adopt the formatting and structure I've set in the template. Please please please help me!

Hi dwyoo113, welcome to Storyline! That’s a big project you’re tackling.
The smoothest way to handle this is by setting up your questions in a spreadsheet first and then importing them into Storyline. Here’s the step-by-step guide: Importing Questions from Excel Spreadsheets and Text Files.
A couple of tips:
- Download the template spreadsheet from that article. It has the correct question type codes you’ll need.
- Add your text questions into the spreadsheet, referencing the codes for each question type.
Please let me know if you have any questions as you go through this process. Wishing you luck as you get up and running — the community will be here to support you! 🌟

Hi Katie-Jordan, thank you for getting back to me. I realize I may not have been entirely clear in my original question. I’m already familiar with how to import questions from a spreadsheet (or txt file). What I’m specifically trying to do is to pre-define the "destination slide" where those questions will be placed upon import. I.e., if I can pre-set the slide including required layers (such as correct, incorrect, and review), the desired font type/size, and a few custom states, I could avoid having to adjust the formatting and structure of each question later on after they are imported. That will save so much work and time for me. Greatly appreciate your support!
