Track what path a learner takes
Good afternoon,
I'm going to be building a course where multiple job titles in my company will need to take it, but depending on their job will determine essentially how much of the course they actually need to complete.
My thought was to have the different jobs as different scenes and have the learner choose their job after the initial slides and then they'll just complete their jobs scene.
My question is, is there a way to see that they completed the correct path in our LMS? (We have ADP)
Basically we want to make sure that job title #3 (needs most amount of training) actually completed their pathway and didn't just complete job title #1 (least amount of training).
Thanks!

staperek: If the branches have quizzes, Storyline will submit the data from the first quiz the user completes. Looking at that data would let you know which quiz was taken. (How you pull the data depends on the LMS.)
If you're not using quizzes, you could do this instead:
- Make the choose-a-role slide a fill-in-the-blank question slide—but with the text-entry field off the slide and removed from the focus order. Instead of a "question," just put the slide title into that field.
- Add your own buttons for selecting the role.
- Use triggers to change the value of the text-entry field to the name of a role based on what the user selects. Be sure to put these triggers before triggers that jump to another slide.
- As desired, remove the Submit button from the Slide Properties, and add the Next button. Put the "Submit interaction" trigger to the Next button.
- To submit the question to the LMS, it has to be connected to a Results slide. You could put a Results slide at the end of each branch. Or steer all the branches to end at the same Results slide. Design the Results slide(s) however you want.
This is demonstrated in the attached file.
For future reference, this Exchange Best Practices section is for general questions about eLearning. You’re asking how to do something in the software. That type of question is a better fit in the Discuss Articulate Products section of the website. That's where those of us who regularly answer questions about how to use the software spend more of our time. And that's where more folks go to search for answers specifically related to Storyline, Rise, and other parts of Articulate 360.
Hey staperek — hoping someone else chimes in who uses ADP & can advise on your exact scenario. Tagging in a few folks I see have mentioned using ADP elsewhere in the community who may be able to help: BGary2424, DenisedelosReye, LeahC, and JordonHillhouse
What I will say though is, if you are sure ADP can track single course completions easily and just not this branched scenario, I wonder if simply duplicating the course for different audiences and deleting the unnecessary section in the copy might be a viable workaround, since it sounds like all the course content is the same and you just need different job types to complete more and less thorough versions. That way you don't have to work out all the logic of tracking different completions.
