Worksheet Style Interactivity Within a Course?
I am working on a course and want to try a slightly different approach, but I'm not quite sure how to go about it.
Normally, we would have a video in a module, and after the video is complete, we would ask the learner to download a PDF "worksheet" and complete the exercise before moving to the next module. 80% of our user base accesses courses from a mobile device, so the chances of them downloading a PDF and completing it between modules are slim to none.
Do any of you have ideas on how I could add boxes for learners to type in answers to reflection questions within the course itself? If so, is there a way they could do that AND have all of their responses at the end of the course emailed to them, so they have a complete notes packet after they complete all the modules?
I'm happy to hear any and all ideas of how to make this happen (from personal experience or just "in theory this should work" thoughts)!

Hi sallen0907 ,
Here are 4 ways (2 no-code and 2 custom-coded) to capture mobile reflections and give learners a completed notes packet. (I’ve attached a handout containing the printable code snippets for Options 3 and 4!)
1. Form Builder with Auto-Email (No-Code)
- Setup: Create a Google, Microsoft, or Jotform quiz/survey with Send responders a copy of responses turned on.
- Embedding: Use a Multimedia > Embed block in Rise 360 or a Web Object in Storyline 360.
- Experience: Learners answer directly in the iframe; the form platform automatically emails them a summary packet upon submission.
2. Storyline Variables + Print Trigger (No-Code)
- Setup: Capture reflections in Text Entry fields and display all variable tags on a final summary slide.
- Trigger: Add a button with Storyline’s built-in Print Slide trigger.
- Experience: Tapping Print on mobile opens their phone's native share menu to Save as PDF or email the page directly.
3. Custom Code: Auto-Email Draft (Rise 360)
- Setup: Copy the Option 3 code from the handout into a Rise Code block.
- Experience: Learners type answers directly inside Rise. Tapping Confirm & Email Notes launches their mobile mail app with all answers pre-filled into a draft ready to send.
4. Custom Code: Lock & Save as PDF (Rise 360)
- Setup: Copy the Option 4 code from the handout into a Rise Code block. No external email or form platform required.
- Experience: Learners complete questions in Rise and click Submit. The form locks their answers on screen, displays a success banner, and opens a Print/Save as PDF window optimized for mobile.
Hope these options give you a solid direction for your mobile learners! Let me know if you run into any questions when setting them up!
Have a beautiful day! Hi! As a maths teacher, I love this approach — getting learners to write out their thinking is so much more valuable than yet another multiple-choice quiz. In Storyline, I have had good results with freeform text-entry fields combined with a model-answer reveal: the learner types their reflection, clicks a button, and then sees an example response to compare against. It keeps the worksheet feel while adding genuine interactivity. One tip from experience: keep the text boxes generous in size and put a short prompt above each one explaining what a good answer looks like — learners often freeze in front of a blank box. In Rise, the scenario blocks and knowledge checks can approximate this, though Storyline gives you much more control. Good luck with the course!
