What can you change in a localized course without affecting the parent course if they remain linked?

Our team is new to localization, and I have taken the tutorials and read Articulate articles on the topic. I am putting together a best practices document for the team, and I want to create a straightforward list of the the things that change across ALL courses when you change in one course (when the localized courses are not saved to a separate file, but remain tied to the parent), and the things that you can change in a localized course that will ONLY be changed in that course. So far I have confirmed font size. However, a fairly detailed prompt in CoPilot came back with the following list, which I don't think is accurate. I don't yet have a localized course I can test these with. Can someone confirm what is listed under number 2 and the first bullet in number 3? Thanks so much!

These are elements Storyline treats as language‑specific or non‑structural. Changing them in a translated version does not affect the parent or other languages.

  1. Text Imported Through the Translation Workflow
  • Any text that came from the XLIFF or Word translation file
(titles, body text, button labels, captions, alt text, etc.)
  1. Font Formatting That Is Considered “Local”
  • Font size
  • Font family
  • Bold/italic/underline
  • Line spacing
  • Paragraph spacing
  • Text alignment
  • Text box resizing to fit translated text

These formatting changes stay only in the translated version.

  1. Language‑Specific Adjustments
  • Repositioning text boxes to fit longer/shorter translations
  • Adjusting spacing for right‑to‑left languages
  • Changing character sets (e.g., Latin → Cyrillic)
  • Localized audio narration
  • Localized closed captions
