Meet the Masters of Suspense Team
This onboarding is for anyone new to the Alfred Hitchcock classic North by Northwest.
It introduces both the on‑screen and behind‑the‑scenes teams, with a nod to Ben Mankiewicz and Turner Classic Movies.
While improving my Vyond skills this month, I recreated scenes from favorite Hitchcock films. Studying Hitchcock is a great way to learn panning, zooming, cutting, sound, and motion. It also highlights the many collaborators behind his work, from titles and music to wardrobe and set design.
Often considered Hitchcock at his peak, North by Northwest (1959) stars Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, James Mason, and Martin Landau, and features iconic scenes like the UN sequence, the art auction hijinx, crop duster attack, and Mount Rushmore chase.
Below is a comparison of the Vyond “team” and the real people. Cary Grant proved impossible to match, but I think I nailed Hitchcock and Edith Head. If you are unfamiliar with Edith, think Edna Mode from the Incredibles movie.
Enjoy—and I hope to share scenes from other films like Rear Window, Psycho, and The Birds in a future demo!
