Accessibility in Rise 360

Mar 06, 2023

If we include audio (mp4) in a knowledge check that asks the question, what are the best practices for accessibility when providing feedback for Multiple Choice, True/False answers?

Will the mp4 interfere with the screen reader?

(note: question is also included in text format)

Thank you.

Hi there, Wayne!

When designing a course with accessibility in mind, you'll want to make audio and video content accessible to learners who can’t hear your content (for whatever reason, be it physiological or environmental). If a knowledge check question includes a video with audio, you can add closed captions to the video by following these steps: How to Add Closed Captioning to a Video.

If a learner is using a screen reader to make visual content more accessible, the MP4 video won't interfere with the screen reader because the video won't play automatically. The learner can play the video when they are ready, and the screen reader will pause as the video plays.
