Any extra spaces in answers marked as incorrect

Jul 09, 2021

Maybe a feature request? Fill in the blank questions, when graded by Rise, should have the ability to ignore extra (or lack of spaces) in answers. For example, a math answer is 2x+y. However, it must be set up as "2x+y", and "2x + y" in order for it to be correct if students add or remove the spaces between the operator.

And, what if they enter "2x +y", "2x+ y", "2x+y "... usually, there are just too many scenarios and Rise should be able to mark something correct whether the spaces are there or not. Or, at least give the option to "ignore spaces".

Hi Blending Education! Thanks for the feedback! I've added this as a feature request with your use case. If we make any changes that help, I'll reach out and let you know!

For now, I can suggest including a note with your question that includes the sample format for the answer or a note to say not to include spaces/include spaces between integers/symbols with the answer.
